NYC Volunteer Expo

The MCC Virtual Volunteer Recruitment Expo is a program run through the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Community Benefit Fund, a nonprofit 501c(3) organization.  This organization is an affiliiate of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce (www.manhattancc.org) and supports the MCC's outreach in the community to promote a better quality of life for all New Yorkers.

This mission also includes the organization and management of the 2nd & 3rd Ave. Community Benefit Fund Street Fairs on Manhattan's upper east side.  Over $2.0 million has been donated to several nonprofits in that neighborhood over the past 12 years.  (http://www.manhattancc.org/marketplace/news/info_detail.cfm?QID=2507&ClientID=11001)

In keeping with MCC's mission, the inaugural MCC Volunteer Expo, Share Your Heart....Volunteer, event was held in Feb 2005 to support the non-profit community by helping them attract new volunteers.  The 2006 Expo was held in April during National Volunteer Week and the theme was Dare To Be Involved.  In total, over 3,000 new volunteers registered for over 90 non-profit organizations that exhibited in our Expos.

In 2007 smaller expos were held on the lower east side and upper east side of Manhattan. Going forward smaller expos will be held as the connection is stronger for volunteers to find local non-profits with volunteer programs.

As there are a myriad of organizations in NYC looking for volunteers and a number of great sites to help potential volunteers navigate the possibilities, we have moved to a virtual "Volunteer Expo" everyday!

In addition, we are now supporting TimeBank, a community based volunteer program run in NYC by the Visiting Nurse Services of New York. A TimeBank is a community-building tool that rewards decency, caring, and concern for the community. It’s a way for people to use their skills, share their passions, meet their neighbors and lend a helping hand! And it’s completely flexible: members contribute what they want, when they want and with whom they want.

Many thanks to all our sponsors over the past years who have helped support our efforts:
